Samuel Barber, Hugo Wolf and Robert Schumann

Date : 00-00-0000
Time : :: until ::

2010 marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Samuel Barber, the 150th of Hugo Wolf and the 200th of Robert Schumann; three giants of song. Ms Kellock will be reviving the compelling 70 minute program Everything but the Hermit, including the 26 songs of Barber that are Not the Hermit Songs. This program can be heard on the Koch International Classics recording of the same name, with pianist Xak Bjerken, and samples can also be heard on this site. The range and variety of this program is extraordinary; a journey that takes the listener from The Daisies through the wonderful French texts of Melodies Passagéres, and the James Joyce poems, to the disturbing late cycle Despite and Still.

Additionally, Ms. Kellock will be creating a program that mixes Barber songs with the great offerings of Wolf and Schumann, to create a two-century panorama of poetry set to music. Her collaborator will be pianist Kirk Severtson. Please contact Ms. Kellock for more information about these concerts.
